Uxbridge War Monument Dedication Ceremonies Being
Planned
The Uxbridge Post Vietnam War Monument Committee
has announced that the dedication of the new war
monument will take place at the Uxbridge Town
Common on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. The
dedication ceremony, currently being planned, will
take place at the conclusion of the Memorial Day
Parade.
Donald Letourneau, Chair of the Uxbridge
Parade Committee, announced that all 83 veterans
who will be listed on the new monument have all
been named Grand Marshals of the Uxbridge Memorial
Day Parade.
All of the Grand Marshals are urged to participate
in the festivities. All parade participants will be
assembling at the Whitin School at 8:30 A.M. and
will kick-off at 9:00 A.M. Several vintage cars
will be available to carry those veterans who are
unable to walk the entire parade route.
The Post Vietnam War Monument Committee is asking
the assistance of the entire community in helping
to notify the honored veterans and/or their
families inviting them to participate in the
Memorial Day Parade and monument dedication. Since
several of the Veterans now live outside of
Uxbridge, or at different address than when they
were discharged, sending formal invitations to each
would be very difficult. The committee members are
hoping many of the Veterans, their families, and
the entire Uxbridge community will attend this once
in a lifetime event.
